City administration has now come up with a work plan to overcome the existing problem faced by bylaw officers in addressing noisy vehicles — but because the plan includes a capital ask for equipment, it will have to be part of the budget process this November. Ward 8 Coun. Courtney Walcott, who helped spearhead this plan along with Coun. Dan McLean, said he is just as disappointed as anyone else who was looking for a fast solution.

“I had hopes that we could do something directly for the summer,” he said. ”But when we tasked the organization to do this work, we found out how much work it actually is to train up staff and get all of the different equipment that’s going to be required to actually do this work, including the permissions from the province and the CPS.”
