An independent 'no-blame' transport safety investigation has been initiated into the 10-fatality bus crash at Hunter Valley to examine the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

The Office of Transport Safety Investigations announced on Friday it had initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident, which would examine in detail the circumstances leading up to the rollover of the coach on June 11.

Acting Chief Investigator of OTSI Kerry Russell said the investigation would use an unbiased method to factor in all possible elements of the tragic crash which would be uninfluenced by other governing bodies. Linq Buslines was slapped with several defect and infringement notices after police audited 20 of its coaches. Picture: Supplied.

“The joint operation involved a comprehensive audit of documentation relating to fatigue, driver management, vehicle servicing and maintenance records, and safety management systems,” a police statement said. The tragic crash unfolded late Sunday night when the bus flipped on its side while turning on to a major roundabout in the locality of Greta.
