Lucid will supply Aston Martin with EV tech to help develop the Brit brand's first battery-electric car for 2025

► Lucid to supply Aston with EV technologyAston Martin and Lucid Group have announced a partnership that will influence and accelerate the development of electric cars for the British sports car brand.

As has been discussed behind closed doors for months, Lucid will supply Aston Martin with EV technologies including Lucid’s twin-motor setup, battery tech and on-board charging tech called Wunderbox. The aim is to help Aston Martin launch its first battery-electric car in 2025, one year after the planned launch of theAston Martin also says this doesn’t affect its current relationship with Mercedes-AMG, which currently provides engines and technology for its present and near-future models.

‘Along with Mercedes-Benz, we now have two world-class suppliers to support the internal development and investments we are making to deliver our electrification strategy,’ says Aston Martin Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll. Lucid CEO and CTO, Peter Rawlinson, says Aston Martin picked the EV brand because it ‘recognises the profound benefits of adopting its world-leading electric drivetrain technology, exemplified by the breakthrough 516-mile EPA-estimated range achieved by theAfter Aston Martin’s first battery-electric car planned for 2025, the brand aims to be fully electrified by 2030.
