BATANGAS CITY – Five vehicles, including a pickup, a car, two tricycles, and a motorcycle, were engulfed by a fire that broke out in a "sari-sari" or variety store on Friday evening, July 7, in Purok 5, Barangay Pinamucan Proper in this city.
Report of the Batangas City police indicated that the vehicles were parked near the store owned by Reymart Alberto, also the owner of a Toyota Vios that was parked in his garage. The fire destroyed a Ford Ranger pickup owned by Juan Catapang, a tricycle, and a motorcycle owned by Fermin Panganiban, and another tricycle owned by Rodel Malayarap.The Batangas City Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the fire was controlled at 7:56 p.m. According to investigator Fire Officer 1 Panganiban, the alleged cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit.
No casualty or injured persons were reported. Estimated cost of damage was placed at more or less P1.7 million.
