Instead of being used, the vehicles, which total to around R94 million, were gathering dust at government facilities for over a year, allegedly costing over R850,000 each.

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape government confirmed that 110 BMW vehicles purchased in 2022 were never used.The African National Congress caucus in the Western Cape Legislature, meanwhile, was questioning the financial outlay, with a collective price tag of around R94 million.

The ANC’s Lulama Mvimbi said the vehicles were purchased without a plan, constituting fiscal dumping. “The MEC needs to explain why these expensive vehicles have been sitting idle for over a year. This is wasteful and fruitless expenditure."
