IIHS examined 2020 model year data, comparing death rates against each other and concluded that sports car drivers are at the highest risk. Drivers of minivans and SUVs have the lowest death rate as the result of a traffic collision.
"We typically find that smaller vehicles have high driver death rates because they don't provide as much protection, especially in crashes with larger, heavier SUVs and pickups," said IIHS President David Harkey."The muscle cars on this list highlight that a vehicle's image and how it is marketed can also contribute to crash risk."The 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. Dodge's 2020 Charger and Challenger models are represented in the IIHS study.
The two-wheel drive Charger with a HEMI engine , Nissan Altima , Chevrolet Camaro convertible , Kia Forte and Chevrolet Camaro coupe round out the top ten spots. When it was new, the 2020 Ford Mustang was available with forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning among other safety and driver assistance features.
