How about some way of linking drivers to cabs. The person driving the minicab who crashed into my daughter wasn't the person who made the insurance claim. Then do enhanced HMRC checks. Every driver is on minimum wage apparently...
Especially Uber drivers.

This should have been in place years ago. Why should our taxi drivers face having to have clean UK Licenses, , have passed a knowledge exam and have been fully vetted, yet foreigners can walk in and laugh when they take fares from those who have earned their trade credibility?

Taxi drivers already have enhanced criminal record checks. A lot of cabs already have cctv. Taxi cabs already have MOT equivalant checks 2 to 3 times a year. Taxis already have spot checks.
About time. They should also with driving too. I've never seen such awful driving than from taxis. I've also seen drivers sharing cars /plates too... I wonder if posing as same person?!

They should have to undergo the same vetting, CPC training and medicals as bus drivers.
How about first checking they’ve all got licences, that would be a start.
Bus drivers are data checked since they carry Children and the vulnerable buses. So Taxis drivers should too.
Bus drivers have to pass a test to carry passengers. And have to be regulated to the hours they can drive. All Taxis should be held to do the same
Starting with can they drive? A lot of taxi drivers are awful, a league of their own, we need to know if that person is who they say they are? Imo I reckon uber drivers haven't the correct insurance to be a taxi, I feel they are using normal insurance. It's too corrupt in my eyes

As a welfare officer specialising in lone female safeguarding (whilst single-crewed) I am unable to transport a lone female or a child even though equipped with body worn & vehicle cameras, yet a taxi driver can. Enhanced DBS long overdue! Local authorities have been remiss.
