'loose adherence to rules of the road' behaving like humans, killing and maiming no one. But yeah, I'd prefer if they tried driverless trucks first - the kind that mostly stays on the highways and delivers to large warehouses on the outskirts of the city.

What is so strange about this to me, is that rigth now car manufacturers oppose solid speed limitation for cars (ISA) and still expect to just go on with self-driving cars that will probably never be able to negotiate all the strange kinds of situations on traffic. Baby steps!

It is absolutely recreating the train but without the need for any of the infrastructure. It uses the emerging technology to make better use of existing infrastructure. I envisage a passenger version at some stage.
Surely 'report highlights dangers of driverless cars to cyclists' is a more appropriate sub. The cyclists aren't causing any problem.
