'You see EVs everywhere': Electric car sales almost double in Tasmania

Out of 700,000 vehicles registered in Tasmania, only 2,500 are electric, but the number is increasing. "They're also getting more affordable and more accessible, so we're seeing a lot more coming to the market."RACT chief advocacy officer Garry Bailey echoed Mr Ettershank's sentiments. "And many Tasmanians currently are reluctant to upgrade their vehicles because of cost of living pressures. That means there will be internal combustion engine vehicles on our roads for years to come.

Mr Bailey acknowledged there were still some frustrations for EV drivers — particularly around access to charging stations."Like all infrastructure, some things break down and we've had that with chargers around the state," Mr Bailey said.
