A former Queanbeyan truck driver is behind bars tonight, after he was jailed for four years over a crash that killed one man and left another with life-changing injuries.
His truck collided with two cars, killing Alistair Urquhart and seriously injuring a second man, before his truck came to a stop and rolled on its side. "Eight seconds when approaching a traffic signal is not momentary inattention," Justice Loukas-Karlsson said."This exercise involves the death of one innocent person and injuries to a second innocent person," Justice Loukas-Karlsson said.Alistair Urquhart died after being thrown from his sedan onto the median strip when Barrett's truck collided with his car.
Barrett had apologised to both families involved, and Mr Urquhart's sister said they had made their peace.
