Residents have described the carnage created by a 'Niagara Falls' flash flood which ripped through their community in the early hours of Monday morning.
Retired Carol and Collin Rowland, in their 70s, have lived in their home for 43 years and never had an issue with flooding before. Carol said: "The development is at the back of us, and we experienced flooding last week on Tuesday 12 when it flooded the drive, it flooded the garden, it flooded the garage and it flooded the shed."The pair spent two days clearing up the mess, before a large scale flood occurred almost a week later.
Carol explained they are now "living in fear" and have not been in their home since half past four this morning due to the "torrent" of water and not being able to face the damage. She added: "We are just stood here, just looking at it not knowing what to do." "It's all the way down the street, it's gone to the street behind, and it's gone to my mum and dad's street which is another street behind, so it's four rows of streets which have been destroyed. You can't drive on the street, my car is gone and my neighbour's car is gone, we can't go anywhere but we can't stay in the house."
"The road is more or less clear here, but it will be pouring off their land for days. It's like a waterfall, it's like Niagara Falls, it's absolutely unbelievable."
