Just over one in five new cars sold in the European Union in August was fully electric, as sales of zero-emission models more than doubled, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) showed on Wednesday. Fully-electric models made up 21% of sales in the EU in August, the first time that they have made up more than one fifth of all sales, the ACEA said. In the first eight months of 2023, nearly 1 million fully-electric cars were sold in the EU.
