The UAW and General Motors, Ford Motor and Stellantis are all holding their ground on demands, and it appears likely the union will strike additional plants.

A Ford source said the company's current proposals would offer entry-level employees starting salaries of about $60,000, potentially increasing to $100,000 or more during the life of the deal. That includes base pay, expected overtime, profit-sharing and other cash bonuses. The UAW union has called broadly for"equal pay for equal work." It's a cornerstone of the group's platform. While the automakers have historically argued for different pay based on seniority, job classification and responsibilities.

The union would like to eliminate the in-progression pay structure entirely and have workers across the contract earning the same wage including temporary, or supplemental, workers.
