South Africa is known for some pretty potent cars, and one such car is the iconic Superboss. News24 Motoring contributortells us about a very rare stock-standard Opel Kadett GSI 16V S that lurks in KwaZulu-Natal.
Today, these beauties have become a collector's item. Just this weekend at the Creative Rides' classic and collectable auction, a 1985 Opel Kadett GLE fetched a cool R500 000. This Sunday, 24 September, the second part of the auction, and so fitting on Heritage Day, will see a 1991 Superboss also go under the hammer, and we can only imagine what it will fetch.
It was around about noon when I arrived at my destination. I was met by Richard Wint, an avid petrolhead like myself. He greeted me with a smile, handshake, and a glass of whiskey to help with the warm day. And, if you still weren't sure, you can definitely tell by the way his eyes lit up and one can hear the excitement in his voice as we talked about the iconic vehicle.
Richard's garage is any petrolhead's"candy shop". It's kitted with all the tools that car guys would need to keep their prized possessions in tip-top shape, from ramps and tool kits to jacks and"bokkies" and lots of those clear jars we keep our spare nuts and bolts in.
