Ford Motor Co. reported Wednesday third-quarter vehicles sales in the U.S. that increased 7.7% from a year ago, boosted by strength in truck and electric vehicle sales.

The sales data comes after the automaker said it made its strongest proposal yet to the United Auto Workers, in an effort to end the near three-week strike.
