People living in the cul-de-sac said they were 'always waking up to police cars'

Police were called to Brougham Avenue in Tranmere at around 4am on Tuesday, October 10. It followed reports a man in his 40s was stabbed. He was rushed to hospital with puncture wounds to his back and neck and is currently fighting for his life.

Neighbours living in the area claim they face "trouble with drugs" in the area and it is "far from quiet". Another person in the area said it was "nothing new" seeing police in the cul-de-sac.Merseyside Police said officers attended the scene, but the suspect had fled the area on foot, believed to be in the direction of Orchard Court and Quigley Street. Detectives were also seen this morning making door to door enquiries following the stabbing.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone with information to please come forward.
