The new Mercedes-AMG SL 43 offers a lower price but just four cylinders. Regardless, it has much of the V8-powered SL’s panache, which is what draws many buyers to the car in the first place. The turbo on the 2.0-liter four is spun by both the exhaust and an electric motor, so power and torque are always at the ready. Price for panache ain’t cheap: It starts at $111,050.
We do know the weight of the body shell is 595 pounds.Outside, the SL 43 gets its own front fascia and rear apron, as well as round exhaust tips instead of square to distinguish it from the 55 and 63. The overall look of the body is far less angular than SLs of recent vintage—perhaps we call it excessively rounded at the rear. Whether you like that or not is entirely up to you.
