BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) towed and clamped 58 vehicles in the campaign against illegal parking here that started on Monday, October 9.

Police Major Junji Liba, BTAO head, said that 14 vehicles were towed on Lacson St. during the first day of the campaign.

Among those towed were six motorcycles, two delivery trucks, three private cars, and three tricycles. He said that these vehicles were not impounded but were only clamped because drivers were able to settle their violations. BTAO has conducted an information drive and a two-week dry run before the full enforcement of towing and clamping measures.

This is part of the city’s initiative to discipline drivers of public utility vehicles , private vehicles, and tricycles, alleviate traffic congestion, and ensure smooth vehicular flow here. Pursuant to City Ordinance 1035 which introduced Tow-Away Zones, individuals or entities whose vehicles are discovered parked or stalled in restricted zones or in violation of city ordinances will be fined.
