Demonstrators from Amnesty International hold placards outside the Saudi Arabian Embassy on International Women's day to urge Saudi authorities to release jailed women's rights activists in Paris, on March 8, 2019. The placard reads: 'Freedom for Loujain, Aziza and Iman.
At the time of the arrests, the public prosecutor said five men and four women were being held on suspicion of harming the country’s interests and offering support to hostile elements abroad. State-backed media labelled them as traitors and “agents of embassies,” unnerving foreign diplomats in the key U.S. ally.
Activists say some of them, including Hathloul, were held in solitary confinement and subjected to mistreatment and torture, including electric shocks, flogging and sexual assault. Saudi officials have denied those allegations.
Talk about the problem - fundamentalist Islam. Avoiding the cause won’t solve the issue just to be politically correct.
Canadians support Saudi Arabia every day. Canadians make lots of loonies building Armoured Vehicles for sale to the Saudi’s. Canadians also enjoy cheap & clean oil imported from Saudi Arabia. Woman in Canada are so hypocritical too. Oh Canada ! JustinTrudeau
This is seriously not a good thing. What is their crime? I have been following this since the days they were imprisoned. Let me know how I can help. I will start retweeting and tweeting, just let me know who I should direct this to. With thanks
