If you're passing a Cumberland Valley School District bus while its stop sign is extended, expect a $300 fine in the mail.That's because the district is among the latest in Pennsylvania to implement automated cameras on all of its school buses, which were installed last week. Vehicles caught via automated camera violating the state's school bus stop sign will trigger a $300 fine that is mailed to the owner of the vehicle.

Lawmakers in the Pennsylvania General Assembly recently voted to extend the program, sending the legislation to Gov. Josh Shapiro's desk.The law allows police departments, such as the school district's own agency, to review footage before a fine is sent to the owner of a vehicle to check for possible exceptions to the law, such as a median being present that would allow vehicles on the opposite side of the street to pass by.
