Tacoma firefighters responded and contained the fire.

Tacoma crewsThe fire was reported at 8:34 p.m. when a rail car carrying automobiles caught fire at Marshall Avenue and Milwaukee Way near the Port of Tacoma.

Flames were initially reported as 10 feet tall and growing upwards of 30 to 40 feet, according to the Tacoma Police Department.Police said nothing had been relayed to the department that the fumes would cause a danger to the surrounding community.Four Tacoma police cars were dispatched to help control traffic. to stay up-to-date on news stories from across western Washington.
