But for anyone with fuel in their veins, it’s nearly impossible to resist the allure of a classic. Call it nostalgia, but there’s something about old metal that tugs the heartstrings of enthusiasts.ICYMI: SC on single ticketing system, LRT-1 Cavite Extension update, Cebu BRT design
So, why are we bringing this up? Recently, Lyn Ching-Pascual shared an Instagram post that car nuts will easily be able to relate to. Not only that, she shared her own vintage car, a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Who knew that the veteran TV presenter was into classic metal? Of course, die-hard air-cooled VW fanatics will easily identify the model year or era of Lyn Ching’s Karmann Ghia. By the looks of it, she has herself a coupe model from the early to mid-‘60s, somewhere between 1960 to 1967 we reckon. Some clues pointing to that include the repositioned headlights, larger air intake, the circular turn signal lamps , and the ‘short arm’ driver’s side mirror. Apologies, we’re geeking out a little but here.
But regardless of its age, we agree with her sentiments. Besides, it’s hard to disagree with that given the Karmann Ghia’s beautifully sculpted lines. Yes, there are modern cars that look sharp and snappy, and yes, modern cars are safer, easier to drive, and more comfortable. But let’s be real here, which one would you walk towards more towards a car show? A beautifully restored and preserved relic from days gone by or something from today? We’ll settle that debate some other time.
We’ll leave you with a few wise words. Celebrate the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future. As for Ms. Lyn Ching-Pascual, we’d like to see more of your Karmann Ghia, please.
