The powerful winds toppled a large tree Thursday onto utility lines that then fell onto around 10 cars in Lake Balboa. Trees were also down in other Southern California communities.

The tree limb which went through the passenger side of Fred Tavaherian’s windshield as he was driving along Sherman Way in the Lake Balboa area on Thursday, March 14, 2024. The tree also took out a water main under the sidewalk. Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded to Victory Boulevard between Balboa Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue, where they found the cars blocking driveways and a tree on top of one car, KABC 7 reported.

A tree was blown down on the 1700 block of Locust Street in Pasadena on Thursday. Streets were blocked by the fallen tree near Allen Avenue. Early Thursday afternoon, what appeared to be at least two large trees fell onto a home in the 1100 block of Beverly Way in Altadena. No injuries were reported.
