Exclusive: The tax disc on the Audi A4 driven by the embattled Fianna Fáil senator was almost four months out of date when it was photographed in Castlebar, Co Mayo

Senator Lisa Chambers was spotted driving an untaxed vehicle despite receiving an allowance of almost €2,300 a month to cover her motoring expenses, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

TDs and senators receive an unvouched Travel and Accommodation Allowance of up to €34,065 a year to cover the cost of using and maintaining a vehicle in the course of their duties. She lives 1.8km from her constituency rival, Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon, but has to travel 35km further to reach Leinster House, according to her declaration

It was purchased by its current owner on August 13, 2021. Ms Chambers did not respond when contacted for comment by the Irish Mirror.
