Traffic is backed up near the Westbound approach to the Bay Bridge due to a fatal wrong-way crash involving three vehicles and a suspect who had previously been in a chase with El Cerrito police, according to CHP.

Traffic backed up Tuesday morning on the Westbound I-580 connector to I-80, which is the approach to the Bay Bridge, due to a three-car fatal crash.Traffic is backed up in the Westbound direction of I-580 in the East Bay Tuesday morning due to a wrong-way fatal crash involving a suspect who was in a police chase.

According to CHP, the crash is on the I-580 connector to Westbound I-80, on the border of Oakland and Emeryville. It is the approach to the Bay Bridge. CHP says a person died in the crash around 4:30 a.m. that involved a wrong-way driver and three cars. Two lanes of the ramp are being blocked, and there's no estimated time for when they will reopen.

The suspect was driving a white utility truck and hit a dark grey Lexus IS and a white utility van, according to the CHP. The driver of the Lexus was killed.
