A new motion seeks to outlaw adverts for hybrid cars, cars powered by fossil fuels, airlines, airports, flights, and fossil fuels 'at the very least'. The ban would apply to billboards owned by Manchester City Council.

Adverts promoting 'high carbon' products like non-electric cars or airlines could be banned on some Manchester billboards. The proposed ban would apply to 24 large billboards and 86 smaller ad spaces owned by the council.

The move aims to promote other green projects the council has invested in and to further Manchester City Council's reputation as a climate leader.
