New double yellow lines could be coming to a junction where parked cars block the pavement after safety complaints.

Watford Borough Council is considering the proposed ‘no-waiting at any time’ restrictions after a public consultation ran earlier this month. They would be painted at the end of Bushey Mill Lane and extend past a few houses on either side of the junction in Radlett Road, but not on the opposite side of Radlett Road.In a letter to residents, the council said that it has received lots of complaints from residents and councillors over parked cars blocking visibility or the turning itself.

It added: “Drivers have been observed to park at or close to the junction on the roads, and frequently wholly on the footway which raises a safety issue for other drivers accessing the junction as sight lines are obscured. “This can also block the passage and reduce visibility for pedestrians using the footway or crossing at this point, ultimately raising a safety issue for all modes of traffic.”A summary of the results, as well as a council officer’s recommendation, will be shared with the area’s ward councillors after the election period so that they can make a decision on progressing the scheme.
