“Automated vehicle technology is evolving on a very public stage and, as a result, it is affecting how consumers feel about it,” Greg Brannon, AAA’s director of automotive engineering and industry relations, said in a statement. The automotive group said bridging the gap between the perception of automated vehicle technology and the reality of how it works currently in cars may help consumers feel more comfortable.
The group stressed that experience seems to play a pivotal role in how drivers feel about automated vehicle technology, and that regular interaction with advanced driver assistance systems components like lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and self-parking, considered the building blocks for self-driving vehicles, significantly improve consumer comfort level.
The survey also found that consumers are receptive to the idea of the new vehicle technology in limited applications. For example, about half of those surveyed said they were comfortable with low-speed, short distance forms of transportation, like people movers found at airports or theme parks, and 44 % said they were comfortable with fully self-driving vehicles for delivery services.
I just like to drive
For good reason!
Not ready for it cars driving traffic travel
Drive Cycle.
I think it will be years, before that happens. In fact, the comfort level will probably only be high among the generation who know nothing else except self driving cars
The fear isn't completely justified, but it's also understandable. There are enough cases of accidents that it makes sense that a lot of people are mistrustful of a relatively new technology.
Your first I-95 nap will convert you.
Hi, could you please write an article about Anitta’s upcoming album “KISSES”? It’s going to be a trilingual audiovisual album. And all the teasers she’s been releasing are FIRE! Thanks in advance ❤️❤️
I FIXED IT: 'Nearly three in four Americans [DRIVERS] remain afraid of self-driving vehicles, according to a new AAA survey.' Of the 30% of Americans w/o driving licence (disabled, seniors, medically at risk, too young, poor etc.) I expect interest is MUCH higher.
I'm afraid to die in any car.
Of course they are... they’d rather text and drive. Duhhhhh
Something like 95% of all fatalities are tied to driver error. Think a computer can't do better than THAT?!
Most Americans aren’t stupid. I actually like driving my car.
