Hundreds of motorists are due refunds after a 'historical systems-based error' led to Axa Insurance overcharging

Hundreds of motorists up and down the country are in line for a payout following an error by a leading insurance company.

It is understood that the issue is related to the recognition of no-claims bonuses for policy-holders when calculating premiums, the Irish Independent reports. The company said that it had identified what it referred to as a historical systems-based error earlier this year that impacted about 400 motor customers.

The company said: “In March 2024 we wrote to each of the impacted customers apologising for the error and confirming that a refund was being processed and would be paid in the coming days.
