A little girl is lucky to be alive after she was partially scalped when her hair became caught in the motor of a child's go kart.
The mum and her husband Jacob Use, 23, watched in horror as Macie's stepdad, Jason Blanchard, 43, freed an unconscious Lani from the motor by cutting her hair with a knife. "They were trying to keep her up because when she fell asleep her vitals went nuts. I thought I would lose her." Macie said Lani's personality has changed since the accident and she is awaiting an appointment with a therapist to help her cope with post traumatic stress.Macie said: "After the accident she was really depressed. She cried a lot and she didn't like how she looked. It was heartbreaking.
"I would make sure children's hair is tied up securely and they are wearing a helmet. Macie was riding the go kart on 'turtle mode' and this still happened. Macie and Jacob, an air conditioning specialist, welcomed their second daughter Presley in December and said Lani is the best big sister.
