Sgt. Kimberley Farlin says police responded to reports of shots fired at about 9 p.m. Monday in Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood.
Just minutes later, officers were alerted to a multi-vehicle crash about two kilometres from the shooting, near the western edge of Tynehead Regional Park.A second man was seriously injured in the crash, which sent a Dodge Charger careening into a house while a Honda Civic rammed a parked SUV. Several men were taken into custody and Farlin confirmed the shooting and crash are likely connected.
“We believe that those vehicles were probably involved in the first initial shots fired and it led to a motor vehicle accident a short distance away,” she says. A motive for the shooting and the cause of the crash remain under investigation and Farlin says police are not immediately aware if any of the men involved are linked to gangs or criminal activity.
