We look back at some of the first instances of Pro Street cars in HOT ROD.

The same holds true for Pro Street in HOT ROD. What was the first Pro Street car feature to run in HOT ROD? Does it matter whether the words “Pro Street” were used to describe it or not? I’d argue we had been running features of Pro Street cars long before the moniker became attached to the style.

Back to the November ’85 issue, where editor Len Emmanuelson posed a question in his column: “To look at all the Pro Street cars at our events this summer … it would appear that Pro Street is a very popular trend. There’s no denying it, the cars are exciting to look at, listen to, and be around. They’re mind-blowers. But this disturbs me a little, too.
