Over all these years of documenting interesting examples of automotive history in car graveyards, I've managed to find just two Rolls-Royces in American junkyards , plus a pair of Austin Champs with Rolls-Royce engines. Obviously, a trip to the homeland of Rolls-Royce was in order, so that's where I went a few months back. This is Westminster Auto Spares, a breaker's yard specializing in Rolls-Royces and Bentleys located in Sherburn-in-Elmet in North Yorkshire, England.
The founder and owner of Westminster Auto Spares is Carl Heath, who toiled for many years in the insurance business before parting out a Silver Shadow at the beginning of the Great Recession and realizing that he had found a more fulfilling job. I'm pleased that the Colorado license plate I brought him now hangs on his office wall.
