“It is with profound sadness that we announce Greg Weldon, husband of Mayor Beth Weldon, passed away in a motor vehicle accident late Sunday morning,” CBJ wrote in a statement. “The Mayor and her family request privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of their husband, father, and friend.”
Robert Barr, the deputy city manager, said the accident occurred in the Southwest U.S. Barr declined to offer additional details about the circumstances of the incident. Weldon won office in 2018 over three challengers after former mayor Ken Koelsch decided not to run for reelection.
