The nine "juvenile suspects," whose ages were not specified, are facing charges of attempted motor vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and obstruction, according to the Kirkland Police Department . Six of the nine are on electric home monitoring and the other three remain in custody "due to lengthy criminal history, which includes possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, unlawful possession of a firearm, robbery, hit and run and obstruction," the KPD said.
The vehicles being used by the suspects were recently stolen from Federal Way and Kirkland, police said. According to the KPD, officers responded to a report of "suspicious activity" at the Juanita Country Club Condominiums on the 12400 block of 109th Court Northeast Sunday afternoon. A resident said two vehicles sped into the complex and several occupants were wearing ski masks, police said.
Officers arrived and found "numerous suspects attempting to steal a parked Kia," according to the KPD. Police said they apprehended several suspects at the scene, while "multiple" fled the area on foot."Additional community members called police to provide updated information of suspects fleeing throughout the area and hiding in yards," the KPD said.
