WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on Wednesday the Biden administration could take an"extreme action" and ban Chinese connected vehicles or opt to impose restrictions but must first review extensive public comments.

The department in late February said it was opening an investigation into whether Chinese vehicle imports pose national security risks and accepted public comments through April 30 on the issue.Raimondo told Reuters in a brief interview the department was reviewing public comments. "We have to digest all the data and then figure out what action that we want to take," Raimondo said."We could take extreme action, which is to say no Chinese connected vehicles in the United States or look for mitigation."It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
