Motorists could face a huge change on one of the main routes into Liverpool city centre to accommodate a permanent cycle lane.
The authority is to make an experimental traffic regulation order to monitor the scheme for six months ahead of it becoming a lasting operation.READ MORE:Liverpool Council unveils plan to introduce bus lane to city hotspot According to a cabinet report, removing right-turn manoeuvres at both points would “ reduce conflicting turning movements and improve traffic flow while also accommodating the extended active travel corridor.” A data collection exercise said the impact of the proposals “is expected to be minimal.”
In order to monitor the effect of these changes, they will be introduced by way of an experimental traffic order which allow the public and other stakeholders to comment on the changes in the light of their actual experience of them. If no outstanding objections are received during the consultation period then officers will take a decision to consider whether to make the measures permanent.
