Ohio State Wrestling Head Coach Tom Ryan gained a new perspective on life after an automobile accident put him in the hospital for 12 days.
“I left the house about 5:30 in the morning,” recalled Ryan. “I plugged my phone in, I use Pandora, and I was listening to Elevation Worship, that’s my jam. I was drinking my morning drink.” The jaws of life helped save his life. Ryan was pulled from the totaled Subaru Outback by a mutual friend. The first responder is friends with Ohio State Senior Director for Sports Performance Heather Mason. The EMT quickly called Mason to inform her that the person being transported to Wexner Medical was Coach Ryan. Mason also quickly informed his family of the incident, helping save his leg.
Ryan also struggled in the early hours at the hospital, fighting through loneliness and uncomfortable solitude.
