Moscow has sustained 512,420 casualties in Ukraine since February 2022, the Ukrainian military said on Tuesday.

Russian forces lost nearly 1,300 fighters, more than 100 vehicles of various types and 65 artillery systems in the past day, according to Ukraine, shortly after Kyiv reported the highest number of monthly Russian casualties and artillery losses in the war-torn country.The figures published by Ukraine's military early on Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, show that Moscow's forces lost 15 tanks, 18 armored personnel vehicles and 69 other assorted vehicles in Ukraine since Monday morning.

In a separate statement, Kyiv said May marked the highest number of Russian monthly artillery losses in Ukraine of the war, reaching 1,160 systems 'destroyed' in May.Although Western analysis often puts Russia's total casualties lower than Ukraine's estimates, the British Defense Ministry said on Friday that Moscow had likely suffered more than 500,000 casualties since early 2022. Russia's average daily casualties in May topped 1,200—the highest of the war so far, the U.K.
