But inside a car, it was a very different story for Animal Control officers Kiana Barish, Jeana Spizzirri, and Billy. Billy is the humane society's stuffed dog who took part in the demonstration.
'When cars sit out in the sun, even in the shade when they're outside, they heat up very, very quickly,' said Ronald Schlabs, the senior director of field operations.That's why Schlabs said it's so important not to think it's safe to leave your pet in the car, just because it's not too bad outside.'If you're going somewhere that's not pet-friendly, leave your pet at home,' Schlabs said. 'They're safest at home.
