On June 27, J.D. Power announced the findings from its 2024 Initial Quality Survey , and the results painted an interesting picture about electric vehicles: owners of EVs reported issues with their vehicles at a significantly higher rate than traditional combustion cars. But that stat alone doesn’t tell the whole reliability story. Here’s what you need to know. The team at J.D.
The average gasoline or diesel vehicle reported a rate of 180 problems per 100 vehicles , whereas that figure was set at 226 PP100 in the EV segments. The leading issue in the survey across all vehicles for 2024 was related to warning messages.
