Last year, TMP has already stopped offering the 1.3 Base and 1.3 E variants of the Vios, while the top-of-the-linewas dropped in the lineup back in January. Fast forward to six months later, and TMP has further downsized the Vios variant offerings to four.
What’s left in the Vios lineup are the J MT, XE CVT, XLE MT, and XLE CVT that’s powered by the smaller 1.3-liter 1NR-FE. These particular variants usually cater to first-time car owners and those who enter fleet businesses such as company cars and ride-hailing services. As we all know, TMP makes the current-gen Vios in the Santa Rosa plant, along with the Innova. But at the same time, the facility is being readied to produce the new Tamaraw. Since TMP will be dividing the production capacity of the plant to produce three models instead of two, that means the Innova and Vios unit output will have to be adjusted for the Tamaraw. For the Vios, that also means product planners will have to prioritize which variants will make up those downsized numbers.
