Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 2128 SUVs for potential engines fires that can be caused be oil leaks. The leaks occur because the wrong type of plastic was used for the oil filter housing, causing it to crack.Several 2024 models are affected: the Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and F-Pace.Jaguar Land Rover is recalling roughly 2100 SUVs due to oil leaks that can potentially start engine fires and create dangerous conditions for other drivers.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration , the issue stems from the oil-filter housing, which was apparently produced using the incorrect specification for the type of plastic. This means that over time the plastic will crack, eventually leading to oil leaking into the engine bay. The oil can potentially end up dripping onto hot engine components, which can cause a fire.
