The Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, has tasked the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC to deal ruthlessly with people using the union's stickers on their vehicles even though they are not members of the union. The union described it as fraudulent, saying that FRSC should not treat such a system of impersonation with a mere wave of hand. The chairman of the Council, Ibrahim Musa Maizare said the situation has become so rampant, worrisome and unbearable.
'Anybody caught with an NUJ sticker should be punished unless the person proves himself as a member of the Nigeria Union Journalists or be arrested', Maizare said. 'Before the arrival of the present Sector Commander in the State, we have been making efforts to end this impersonation but we did not get any positive results' Responding, the State FRSC Sector Commander said he would do everything within his power to ensure that justice is not miscarried.
