A man in his 30s is arrested after the vehicles were damaged outside Bath Police Station.

A number of police patrol cars have had their windscreens smashed outside a police station, taking them off the road.

Avon and Somerset Police said a man was "seen to smash the windscreens of several vehicles" parked in Manvers Street, outside Bath police station, at about 08:50 BST on Thursday. A man in his 30s has been detained on suspicion of criminal damage and assaulting three emergency workers during the course of the arrest.

Insp Jon Nash, of the Bath Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "There remains sufficient police vehicles in Bath to enable us to continue to provide an effective response to any other incidents that occur in the city".The man has also been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage at a mosque, in Pierrepont Street, after a door was damaged, police said.The emergency workers did not sustain any significant injuries, the force said.

Insp Nash added: “A number of police vehicles were damaged in the incident which means they will have to be taken off the road while they are repaired."Student tower block could be built near Temple Meads'We want to break down barriers for disabled surfers'
