Only if the queue reaches three vehicles

Are you tired of malfunctioning RFID readers ruining your drive? If this new proposal goes into effect, long queues at toll booths may soon be a thing of the past.

Senator Raffy Tulfo is proposing that toll booths lift their barriers and allow toll-free passage in the event of a malfunctioning RFID reader. Aside from the faulty reader, the only requirement for this policy to kick into effect is that the toll booth’s line has reached three vehicles. There’s an ongoing recall for Toyota Hilux GR-S units in PHIt doesn’t stop there, either.

The TRB is reminded to solve recurring RFID issues by October 2024. A Senate hearing regarding the country’s toll issues is expected to be conducted soon. And while we’re on the topic of iffy RFID systems, Easytrip is still calling on motorists to have their faulty RFID stickers replaced. The company has even extended its replacement deadline.
