Sharing may be caring, but that's hard to do when you're supposed to keep both hands on the wheel in your car. But now there is new technology available that would automatically detect and report road incidents, such as car accidents or traffic jams, to a cloud-based system that would alert other drivers in the area.
Equipped with this technology, vehicles traveling on the road detect changes to driving conditions around them, and automatically share the precise location of incidents as they happen to the cloud. The system aggregates this type of data from all vehicles that use its platform, and will send alerts only to other drivers in the area that could be affected.
Using vehicles as a way to gather data and improve traffic flow isn't new. Waze has relied on its enthusiast user base to report accidents, road closures, and even speed traps to help other commuters, and pools data from vehicles that are using the app to determine real time road conditions. But rather than cede the navigation market to smartphone apps, auto manufacturers are also getting in on the game.

Search for this app. It’s ridiculously accurate. Warned me about a pothole in Columbus once.
It’s called WAZE
