IPOH: The emergency lanes of the North-South Expressway in Slim River will be opened to vehicles if the traffic flow is heavy in the next few days, says Perak Road Transport Department director Severinus Tukah.

As of yesterday, he said, it was not necessary to open up the emergency lane on both directions “asSeverinus said that under the department’s operations from May 29 to June 4, a total of 3,591 vehicles had been inspected.

“From that total, we issued 1,099 summonses and notices to drivers for various offences,” he told reporters after Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu handed over road safety pamphlets to motorists at the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza.He also invited the public to the state government’s Hari Raya open house to be held today at Stadium Indera Mulia from 2.30pm.
