Motorists in Blackburn are being urged to 'check their vehicles' after a man was arrested on suspicion of stealing from cars.

Officers received reports in the early hours of this morning of a male 'trying numerous car doors' in the Higher Croft and Fishmoor areas of the town. Following a search of the area, a suspect was arrested on suspicion of interfering with a motor vehicle, and theft from motor vehicles. Police say they found him in possession of numerous items 'we do not suspect to belong to him' including a mobile phone, money, tools, jewellery and accessories.

"We have found numerous items on this person's possession that we do not suspect to belong to him, such as a mobile phone, money, tools, jewellery and accessories. Please may we ask that anyone in this area of Blackburn checks their vehicles this morning to see if they have any items missing that they believe to be stolen?

"If your vehicle has been targeted as a result of this incident overnight, please call 101 quoting log LC-20240417-0135. To any chancers - we will be expecting a description of the property."
