SUPERIOR, Ariz. — Drivers who use US 60 between Superior and Miami will encounter six months of intermittent closures on the highway, according to Arizona Department of Transportation.

Starting Wednesday, May 15, ADOT will start blasting operations on the US 60, between Superior and Miami. ADOT is advising drivers to plan for full closures of east and westbound US 60, while crews work on the "The full closures of US 60 will continue, when required, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through November. The closures will be between mileposts 227-243," according to ADOT."Due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m."Eastbound US 60 drivers will use southbound State Route 177 through Winkleman to northbound SR 77.

As drivers approach the work zone, there will be lane restrictions and speed reductions in the work zone. "A 14-foot vehicle width restriction to be in place. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice," according to ADOT."Drivers should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down, use caution and merge safely when approaching and traveling through highway work zones."Before You Leave, Check This Out
